The chair “Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components” (PEM) of RWTH Aachen University was founded in 2014 by StreetScooter co-inventor Professor Achim Kampker. The PEM chair consists of several research groups focused on battery system and component development, production and recycling; fuel cells; electric powertrain production; and full vehicle concepts.
PEM is active in teaching, engaged in domestic and internationally funded research projects and collaborating with renowned industrial partners. The focus is on sustainability and cost reduction – with the goal of a seamless “innovation chain” from basic research to large-scale production in the immediate vicinity.
