The chair “Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components” (PEM) at RWTH Aachen University stands for forward-looking research and innovation in the field of electromobility. The PEM team, with more than 100 full time employees and additional students, decisively develops the production processes of electric vehicles and their individual components. An equally large focus falls on recycling as well as the development and safety of batteries. In all areas, application-oriented research projects are complemented by numerous industrial partnerships.

Our approach was comprehensive, including factory concept development, engineering consulting, multi-state location search, and strategic planning. The outcome? A well-defined factory, multiple viable locations, and a strategic roadmap for success.
This achievement sets EPEC on a path to become a significant player in the dynamic world of lithium-ion battery manufacturing, driving innovation and industry-scale adoption of advanced technologies.
